Friday is coming, and with it, St. Gianna Molla’s Day! As of this post, the below is the only picture book we have in our collection for St. Gianna, but given her recent popularity, I do hope we will have a couple more soon!
Gianna Beretta Molla: Wife, Mother, and Doctor
by Barbara Yoffie
This book is part of Liguori Publication’s Saints and Me collection, which is a growing collection of small paperback books about saints for kids age 4-9. The text in this book moves extremely quickly, and there are a plentiful number of pictures, so this book actually works well for age 2 and up. The book tells all the basic parts of the story of St. Gianna’s life, beginning with the saint’s childhood, in simplified language for the youngest children to understand. You may notice from the pictures below that there is an ongoing Christmas theme to the images in this book, along with holly trimmings around the text, because it is one of the six “Christmas collection” books for Saints and Me. For young children, I don’t see this as a problem when pulling this book out during Eastertide. Anyway, Seasonal Catholic gladly recommends this book for today’s saint!
St. Gianna Molla, pray for us!
