Anthony of Padua: Wonder Worker
by Barbara Yoffie
This book is part of Liguori Publication’s Saints and Me collection, which is a growing collection of small paperback books about saints for kids age 4-9. The text in this book moves extremely quickly, and there are a plentiful number of pictures, so, in our experience, this book actually works well for age 2 and up. The book tells all the basic parts of the story of St. Anthony’s life, beginning with the saint’s childhood, in simplified language for the youngest children to understand. It also includes an explanation of why he is often pictured with a Child Jesus at the end. I don’t know if we will ever have another picture book for this saint, so I am glad he is one of the featured saints of Liguori’s series. Seasonal Catholic certainly recommends this book for today’s memorial!
St. Anthony, pray for us!
