Board Books for Easter

This week, I have been sharing our children’s growing Eastertide book collection with posts about picture books for Easter from a Christian perspective, and picture books for Easter that are secular, but clean and fun for kids.  Those posts are about paperback and hardcover Easter books.  Today, I am going to share our board books that come out every year during Easter.  All of them are great for kids of any age, babies and older.

The First Easter

by Jesslyn DeBoer

This is a cute little egg-shaped book from Zondervan Kids Publishing.  It tells the highlights of the first Easter morning through the perspective of a curious lamb.  It is a palm-sized book, perfect for toddlers.

Jesus is Coming!

by Jesslyn DeBoer

This is a cute little book by Zondervan Kids about Palm Sunday, but we leave it out with our Easter books for the season.  It tells the story of Our Lord’s entrance into Jerusalem from the perspective of an excited little lamb.  Thanks to its egg shape, it works well as a basket stuffer.   Its tiny size is perfect for kids age 1 and up.

Little Lamb’s Easter Surprise

by Gina Shaw

This is a cute egg-shaped board book from a secular perspective for Easter.  It tells the tale of a young lamb who finds an empty basket and some colored eggs.  The lamb then begins an egg hunt, then wishes for a friend to hunt eggs with.  The lamb finds a little bunny, and they hide the eggs and have their own egg hunt.  It is a cute book, filled with glitter accents, making it great for toddlers.

My Day with Jesus

by Amy DeVries

This is a sweet, small board book about a young donkey colt’s excitement in giving his first ride to Our Lord on Palm Sunday.  My kids enjoy it, and it stays out during Eastertide in our household.  Seasonal Catholic recommends this book for children age 2 and older.

My First Pictures of Easter

by Maite Roche

This is similar to Maite Roche’s other “My First Pictures” books in that it has a large picture on the left page with smaller break-out illustrations on the right.  This book is mostly about Holy Week, but contains two pages about Easter Sunday at the end.  It is appealing to kids as young as a year old.

Seasonal Catholic recommends these books for any Easter basket – they are cute!  Our copies are certainly well-loved in our house.
