Nov. 14: St. Elizabeth of Hungary

I have a beautiful book for you today!

Roses in the Snow

by Dessi Jackson

This is a nice, large paperback picture book about St. Elizabeth.  It begins with a little Hungarian girl named Elizabeth, who asks her grandmother to tell her the story of her patron saint.  Highlights from St. Elizabeth’s life are then presented, and the story ends again back with the little girl and her grandmother.

A map of Europe during St. Elizabeth’s life is included after the story, along with notes from the author and illustrator.  Lydia Kadar-Kallen, the illustrator, did an amazing job on this book!  And Dessi Jackson’s text is extremely short and to the point in order to keep young children listening.  This book is great for kids age 3 and up, or possibly younger, depending on attention spans.  Seasonal Catholic certainly recommends this book!  I am very grateful that we have it in our collection.

St. Elizabeth, pray for us!
